The register

Seven easements, in seven towns, owned by seven other people.

Berlin, Brookfield, Calais, Chelsea, Marshfield, Middlesex, Washington. None of it is open to the public. We publish the register because a trust that holds restrictions and never says what its monitoring found is asking to be taken on trust, which is a poor way to run a permanent obligation.

Why there are no acreages here

Because a total is the first thing a land trust is tempted to lead with and the least useful thing about it. Twelve hundred acres of hillside nobody wanted is a worse year than sixty acres of river meadow between two farms. What the land is, and whether the terms are being kept, tells you more.

Figures for individual parcels are available to landowners and attorneys on request.
