You send a message
Address, roughly what you want, and a photograph out of an upstairs window if you have one. That last one tells us more than anything you could write.

We come and look, free
An hour on site. We measure, we dig two holes to see what the soil is actually doing, and we say what we think — including if we think you should spend less than you were planning to.

Design, $2,400 and about six weeks
A drawn plan at true mature spread, a plant list, an irrigation layout, and the three-year schedule. It is yours whether or not we build it, and it comes off the build price if we do.

Build, about five months out
One crew, one job at a time, three to six weeks on site depending on stone. The quote separates plants, stone and irrigation so you can cut one without starting again.
Four things worth putting in the first message.
- 1Whether there are dogs or children who use the space, because that is the only argument for keeping lawn that we accept and we accept it completely.
- 2Where the water goes when it rains hard. Half of our stonework is a drainage job that happens to look good, and if you already know where the puddle is you have saved us a season.
- 3Anything you have already been quoted, and by whom. We will not undercut it — we will tell you whether it is a fair price, which is more useful.
- 4Your actual budget. Not a range you think sounds right. We have designed to $9,000 and to $60,000 and the only bad number is the one nobody says out loud until the third meeting.
We are not certified in anything.
There is no badge on this website and there is not going to be. The certifications in this trade are mostly a sticker you buy, and the thing worth checking is the twenty-two years our mason has been laying basalt in this valley and the walls he has built that are still standing straight.
