Intake

Tell me what it is and what it is doing.

A new job would go in behind 5 instruments that have not been started. That is not a discouragement, it is the number, and it is on the queue page whenever you want to check it.

  1. 01

    You send this

Or ring. Either is fine and neither books anything.

  2. 02

    I reply within two days

With a rough range, and whether it is worth bringing in at all.

  3. 03

    Intake, by appointment

Twenty minutes with the instrument on the bench and you standing there.

  4. 04

    Written quotation

By email, itemised. Nothing is started until you reply to it.

  5. 05

    Into the queue

At the back of the waiting list, and you can watch it move on the queue page.

Say what it is doing, not what you think it needs

“Buzzes on the third fret of the B string when I dig in” is worth more than “needs a refret”. Perhaps a third of the instruments that arrive here for a refret leave with a level and crown and a much smaller invoice.

Shipping in
Hard case inside an outer box, strings slackened rather than removed, and insured for what it is worth to you.

Type and rough age is plenty. No need to name the maker.

Ashgrove Instrument Repair is a fictional shop created for demonstration. Queue positions, prices, and bench hours are illustrative.
