How it works
Four steps, and you can stop at any of them.
- 01
The free call
Twenty minutes. You describe roughly what is going on, I say whether I think I can help, and either of us can say no. Nobody is on a list yet.
- 02
The waiting list
If we both want to go ahead, you go on it with a realistic month rather than a vague soon. I write when it moves, not only when a place opens.
- 03
The first session
Mostly you talking and me asking. There is no form to fill in and no history to get through in an hour. You will not be asked to relive anything on day one.
- 04
The first month
Weekly, at the same hour. At about session four we stop and talk about whether this is working, and it is a real question with a real option to stop.
Worked with here
- Anxiety that has stopped being background noise
- Grief, including the kind that arrived years late
- Burnout, and the version of it that looks like not caring
- The long tail of a difficult childhood
- Relationships that keep going the same way
- Life that has changed shape — a diagnosis, a divorce, a redundancy
Referred on
- Crisis and immediate risk
- One therapist with a diary is the wrong resource. The numbers at the top of every page are the right one.
- Couples and family therapy
- A different training and a different room. I will give you two names.
- Children and under-eighteens
- Adults only. Again, I know who to send you to.
- Formal assessments and diagnoses
- For ADHD, autism, or anything a court or an insurer needs. That is assessment work rather than therapy.
- Medication
- I am not a prescriber. Where medication seems worth exploring I will say so and work alongside whoever prescribes.
Being referred on is not a rejection and it is not a judgement about how serious your situation is. It is one person being honest about what they were trained to do.
