What can actually go in the bin?

Flattened dry cardboard, office paper, empty cans, clean film, and rigid plastics in grades one and two. Glass goes in its own bin. Not shredded paper, not coffee cups, not anything with food on it, and never anything in a bag — a bagged load goes to landfill unopened. The full list is on this site with the reason for each.

What happens to the glass?

It goes to a container plant in Oregon and comes back as bottles. It is collected separately, which is the entire reason its rejection rate is two percent rather than thirty — glass in a commingled bin shatters and ends up in the paper, which then gets rejected too.

What is a contamination rate and what is ours?

It is the share of what we collect that gets sorted out and landfilled. Across every stream last month ours was about seven percent, and the by-material figures are on the report page including film plastic at nineteen. Nobody in this industry publishes this number, which is exactly why it is the front page here.

How is the service priced?

Per lift, by container size, on a fixed schedule, with cardboard rebated against your invoice when the market is up. There is no fuel surcharge that changes monthly and no contract longer than a year. Ask for a quote and you will get the whole schedule, not a headline rate.

Question 5

Can we see the monthly report before signing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we would rather you did. It is on this site every month, publicly, including the bad numbers. If a month goes badly you will be able to see that before you become a customer.

Question 6

Do you serve apartment buildings?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and they are the hardest, because nobody who uses the bins signed the contract. We do the signage and the sessions and we are honest with building managers about what a realistic rate looks like — it is higher than an office and pretending otherwise sets everybody up to fail.
