I have never touched a firearm. Is this the right class?

Yes, and most of the room is in the same position. The introduction to safe handling assumes nothing at all: it starts with what the parts are called and does not put anything in your hands for the first hour. If you would rather not be in a group, a private hour costs a hundred and fifty and nobody else is there.

Do I need to own a firearm?

Accepted Answer

No. Nothing on the course list requires you to own one, and we would rather you did the classes before deciding whether you want to. Training firearms and, on the range, everything you need are provided.

Can I bring the one I inherited?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and if you do not want to handle it, do not. Ring first and we will tell you how to transport it without touching the working parts. Making it safe costs nothing and we will not try to sell you a course afterwards.

Question 4

What should I wear?

Closed shoes, and a top that fastens at the neck rather than a low round neck — hot brass finds its way down anything open. Long hair tied back. That is the whole list. Ear and eye protection are provided.

Question 5

Is ammunition included?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for the first range day and the fundamentals course. Fifty rounds on the first day, and you will not be encouraged to buy more on the spot. If you want to keep shooting afterwards the range sells it and we take nothing from that.

Question 6

Do you certify anything for a permit?

Accepted Answer

No. Nothing taught here issues, satisfies, or counts towards any permit, licence, or legal requirement, and any school that tells you otherwise is worth a second look. What we teach is how to handle a firearm safely. What the law requires of you is a question for the state and for a lawyer.
