Both feet, measured
Standing, weight on. Almost everybody has one foot longer than the other and most people have never been told which.

In the afternoon, if you can
Feet swell through the day by up to half a size. A shoe fitted at nine in the morning is a shoe that hurts at four.

Width, not just length
Length is the number people know. Width is the number that decides whether it hurts. We stock B through EE and we will send you elsewhere if you need wider.

Walked in, on a hard floor
Not on carpet, which flatters everything. Fifteen minutes minimum, and the shop is set up so you can walk a proper distance.

Told no, if it is no
If the shape of a shoe we stock is wrong for your foot, we will tell you rather than sell it. That happens perhaps twice a week and it is the reason people send their friends.

Weekday afternoons there is almost never a wait, and afternoons are the better time to be measured anyway.
