Do I need an appointment for a fitting?

No, walk in. A proper fitting takes about forty minutes, so if you are coming on a Saturday it is worth ringing to check somebody is free. Weekday afternoons there is almost never a wait, and afternoons are the better time to be fitted anyway.

What does a resole cost?

Between ninety-five and a hundred and forty-five dollars depending on the construction, and the exact figure for every pair we sell is printed on the shelf next to the purchase price. That is deliberate — a shoe you cannot resole is a more expensive shoe, whatever it costs today.

Question 3

Do you repair shoes I did not buy here?

Yes, at the same prices, and about half the bench is exactly that. Bring them in and we will tell you honestly whether they are worth doing. Sometimes they are not, and we do not charge to say so.

Question 4

How long does a repair take?

Accepted Answer

Heels and taps the same week, a full resole two to three weeks, a full recraft six to eight. The bench is one person and the queue is what it is — you get a real date when you drop them off, not an estimate.

Do you stock wide fittings?

B through EE across most styles. If you need wider than EE, or a genuinely unusual shape, we will name two places that can help rather than sell you the nearest thing we have.

Can you stretch a pair I already own?

Accepted Answer

Usually, twenty-five dollars, three days, and there is a limit — a shoe can gain about a half size in width and very little in length. If the shoe is simply the wrong size we will say so instead of taking the money and disappointing you.
