$52 bench + $34 a pass
The price is arithmetic, not prestige.
Every pattern on the bench, with its passes counted and its total worked out. Nothing here is a starting-from figure.
Rookery Thorn
Blocks cut 1878 · 21″ repeat · 20.5″ × 11′
The house pattern, and the one the shop is named for. Nine passes is the most we will put on a paper — past that the registration starts to wander and the tenth colour is not worth what it costs you.
| Bench charge, every roll | $52 |
|---|---|
| 9 passes at $34 | $306 |
| One roll, 20.5″ × 11′ | $358 |
Hollow Stripe
Blocks cut 1903 · 6″ repeat · 20.5″ × 11′
Two passes, and it is on the site for the same reason the nine-pass paper is: to show what the arithmetic does at the other end. A hall in this costs less than a hall in almost anything else we make.
| Bench charge, every roll | $52 |
|---|---|
| 2 passes at $34 | $68 |
| One roll, 20.5″ × 11′ | $120 |
Pomona Border
Blocks cut 1891 · 14″ repeat · 5″ × 11′
A border rather than a paper, so the roll is five inches wide and priced the same way. Most restoration work that comes to us is a border, because a border is what survives when a wall gets painted over.

|---|---|
| 5 passes at $34 | $170 |
| One roll, 5″ × 11′ | $222 |
What we will not do
Four of these, and each one costs us work. They are here because two of them arrive by email most weeks and the answer is no.
- Print a design somebody else owns
- A photograph of a paper is not a licence to reproduce it. If it is still in copyright we need the owner's permission in writing, and we will help you ask.
- Age, distress or antique a new paper
- We make new paper the old way. A faked patina is the thing that makes the next person in the room doubt everything else about the job.
- Sell a digital print as hand-blocked
- We do not own a wide-format printer and we are not going to buy one. If digital is the right answer for your budget, we will say so and name somebody good.
- Quote a lead time we cannot hold
- Drying days do not compress. A nine-pass paper takes nine days on the rack whatever anybody is willing to pay, and telling you otherwise is how a project gets planned around a date that was never real.
Before you order
- Lead time
- 7 weeks on a nine-pass paper. From approved strike-off to the roll leaving the bench, on a nine-pass paper. A two-pass paper is about three weeks. The drying rack is the constraint, not the queue.
- Minimum
- 3 rolls. Below three rolls the bench setup costs more than the paper. If you need less than that — a patch on a stair, a single panel — say so and we will tell you what it would really cost rather than sending you away.
- Strike-off
- A single printed length, at cost, before the run. On a restoration it is the only way to know the colour is right against what survives on the wall — and $358 of paper is not the thing to guess at.
