Classes · Term 6
Nine classes. Eight of them cost nothing.
Seat counts are updated the afternoon of each assessment day, not at the end of the week, so what is on this page is what was true when the last person was placed. A full class still takes names — two or three people move up a level every term and the seat goes to whoever is next.
ESOL 1
Free
You speak little or no English. You may not read or write in any language yet, and that is fine — a third of this class is in the same position.
- When
- Mon/Wed 9–11:30am · Tue/Thu 5:30–8pm
- Seats
- Full — 24 taken
- Childcare
- Yes, free
Full for Term 6. There is a waiting list and eleven people are on it — put your name down anyway, because two or three always move up a level.
ESOL 2
Free
You can say what you need in a shop or a clinic and you get stuck when somebody asks a follow-up question.
- When
- Mon/Wed 9–11:30am · Tue/Thu 5:30–8pm

- Seats

- When
- Tue/Thu 5:30–8pm

- Childcare

ESOL 5

You are close. This class is mostly writing, and most people leave it for the equivalency class or a college course.

- Seats
- 10 left of 16
- Childcare
- Not this class
One evening a week, and no childcare on Wednesdays — the room the children use is the class.

- Seats
- 2 left of 14

- Yes, free
The only class that costs anything. If four hundred dollars is the reason you are not enrolling, say so at the assessment day — we have a fund for exactly that and it is not a competition.
We do not place anybody by a test score alone. The assessment is twenty minutes with a person, and if the level is wrong you move in the first fortnight — that is normal and it is not a failure.
