Committed hours
How much work is standing at each stage, how much that stage has, and how long it has been that way?
Stages holding more than a week
2 of 5
Bench 1.06 · Finishing 1.70
A stage at 1.06 clears itself in a week and a bit. One at 1.70 does not.
Finishing, eight weeks ago and now
0.82 → 1.70
up 0.88 weeks of queue, in an almost straight line
Not a spike. A spike would be one job; this is the shape of a stage being under-resourced.
Hours held off the wall

across 3 sold jobs — 293 hours are on the wall against 330 the shop has in a week
What counts as capacity
- 1Hours the stage has after site visits, holidays, and the half day the detailer spends on quotes.
- 2Finishing counts booth hours, not sprayer hours. The booth has to stand empty while a coat cures, which is half the week.
- 3Load out is small on purpose. It is whoever is free plus the driver, and it has never been the constraint.
- 4Nothing is counted at more than one stage. A card owes its hours to the stage it is sitting in and to nowhere else.
These are reviewed at the start of each quarter and they are argued about. The numbers being wrong is a legitimate objection to everything on this screen — but it has to be made about the numbers, not about the conclusion.
What this screen is not
It is not a utilisation report and there is no figure on it for any person. A stage at 0.50 weeks deep is not half idle — Load out being empty is the correct state for Load out, and the week Cutting runs at capacity is the week everything behind it stops.
Every stage but one is meant to have slack. Removing it is how a shop gets a board where nothing moves and everybody is busy.

Each panel is drawn against its own range, so the one-week line sits at a different height in each — a single shared axis would flatten Load out to a flat line and hide what Finishing is doing. That means the panels are comparable by shape and not by height, which is why the figure is printed under every one of them.
