How we test
If we could not find something wrong with it, we have not used it long enough.
- 01
We buy it ourselves
Every product we list has been bought at retail before we ever contact the maker. We are not testing a sample chosen for us.
- 02
We use it for at least a month
In a real kitchen or bathroom, doing the job it is sold for. Six weeks for anything that bears weight.
- 03
We measure it ourselves
Manufacturer dimensions are wrong more often than you would think, usually by rounding. Every measurement on this site was taken with a tape by someone here.
- 04
We write down what is wrong with it
Every listing has a limitation. If we could not find one, we have not used it long enough to list it.
Everything wrong with everything we sell, on one page.
This is the page we would want to read before buying, so it is the page we wrote.
- Deep shelf bin$18
- The handle cut-out means it is not a good choice for anything smaller than a spice jar — things migrate through it.
- Under-sink riser$26
- Will not clear a garbage disposal unit on the same side. Check before ordering; returns on this item are our most common.
- Drawer divider set, four pieces$32
- Unfinished wood will stain if you put anything damp against it. That is a trade for not having a coating that flakes.
- Compact dish rack$44
- Eight plates is honestly eight plates. If you cook for four and wash once a day, buy the larger one.
- Corner shelf, two tier$38
- Not adhesive and not drilled, so it relies on a level floor. On a sloped shower base it rocks.
- Entry bench with shelf$168
- Ships in one box at 21 lb. If you are on a walk-up above the third floor, plan for that.
