Athens, Georgia, and about 25 miles around it

There is no address on this website. I come to you.

No waiting room, no carrier, no cat who has already decided the day is ruined. I see dogs and cats on their own floor, four or five houses a day, and I stay long enough to actually watch how an animal moves around its own home.

THE ENTIRE PRACTICE

What fits in the car, and what needs a building.

8 things on the right, published on the front page rather than explained on your doorstep. A practice that will not tell you its limits is a practice that will improvise.

At your kitchen table

  • Full physical examination, on the floor or the sofa
  • Vaccinations and boosters for dogs and cats
  • Blood samples, urine, and skin scrapes, run at a laboratory
  • Ear, eye, and dental checks, and minor dental advice
  • Microchipping
  • Fluids under the skin for a dehydrated cat
  • Most medications, dispensed from the car
  • Quality of life assessment, unhurried
  • End of life care, at home, with the family present
  • Nail trims and anal glands, which nobody enjoys and somebody must do

Needs a building

  • X-rays. There is no machine that fits in a car.
  • Ultrasound scanning
  • Any surgery, including spays, neuters, and lump removals
  • General anaesthetic of any kind
  • Dental cleaning under anaesthetic
  • Hospitalisation, monitoring, or anything overnight
  • Emergencies. This is a scheduled practice with one vet.
  • Anything for an animal that cannot be safely handled at home

How far the car goes.

Three bands out from Athens, and a fourth where the honest answer is somebody closer to you. The travel fee is per visit, not per animal — three cats in one house pay it once.

If this is an emergency, do not wait for me. Go to an emergency hospital.

I am one person driving between appointments, and the worst thing an animal in trouble can do is wait for me to finish somebody else’s visit. That is why there is no out-of-hours number on this site.

Seen at home, on the floor they already lie on. Illustrative — not a Rowan patient.
