We are closed overnight and there is nobody at the clinic. For an emergency outside opening hours, ring the regional emergency service on (406) 555-0199 and go where they send you.
What to doOutside opening hours — do not drive to the clinic
The regional after-hours emergency service. They are staffed overnight, they will triage on the phone, and they will tell you where to take the animal.
Bitterroot Veterinary Clinic is closed. Driving here will cost you the time that matters.
Before you leave the house
Four things that make the call shorter and the drive shorter.
- Ring before you drive anywhere
- The service will tell you which hospital is staffed tonight. It is not always the same one and it is not always the nearest.
- Say the species and the weight first
- It changes where they send you, especially for a horse or a cow. Then say what happened and when.
- Take what you are already giving
- Boxes, bottles, the lot. It saves the emergency team guessing at doses.
- For a large animal, say where the animal is
- Field, barn, or trailer. Whether it can be moved is usually the first question.
Worth knowing in advance
- We are not an emergency hospital
- There is no overnight staff, no overnight monitoring, and nobody sleeping above the practice. Nothing about our building is set up for it.
- During opening hours, ring us straight away
- We hold slots back every day for urgent cases. Something that cannot wait until tomorrow should not wait until tomorrow.
- We will get the notes the next morning
- The emergency service sends across what they did, and we pick your animal back up from there without you having to retell it.
